Current Research Projects
I am currently immersed in two studies. The first seeks to better understand the relationship between art lessons developed at university and their subsequent implementation in authentic elementary classrooms. The second is a self-study that uses the analysis of 10 student materials demonstrations to determine what is, and is not, working in how I have previously taught demonstration practices to preservice teachers.
- Ideation-to-Implementation: Examining the Effectiveness of Preservice Art Teachers' Modified-Choice Lesson Plans When Implemented in Authentic Classroom Settings
- Learning to Demonstrate Artistic Practice to Others: An Action Model for Thinking & Learning
Dissertation: Pennsylvania State University, 2010
In 2008-2009 I conducted a yearlong study which focused on sixth grade students' ability to document their own artistic thinking. This video illustrates and summarizes findings from that study.
